POSITION DESCRIPTION

This is a project position (with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2009) to provide backup support during the course of the PeopleSoft student information system implementation.

 

Job Duties:   This person will work under the supervision of the ITS Support manager with limited supervision, other IS Technical Service-Senior and Academic Staff members of the ITS Support Center will help establish goals, priorities and review work as needed.  This position will provide backup support during the course of the PeopleSoft student information System implementation; which includes desktop support for faculty and staff for hardware, software and operating systems including troubleshooting and problem resolution.  The position also writes documentation for end-users, provides technology training on campus supported applications.  The position may also help provide computer support to students, faculty, and staff as needed in the ITS Support

Center.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:   Knowledge of Windows and Macintosh hardware and operating systems (eg. Microsoft Office, Corel Suite, OpenOffice, StarOffice, etc.); e-mail clients (eg. Microsoft Outlook, Eudora, Thunderbird, etc.); database systems or applications (eg. Microsoft Access, Microsoft SQL, Oracle, etc.); web-based enterprise applications (eg. PeopleSoft, ASAP, legacy systems, etc.), anti-virus software, FrontPage/SharePoint Designer, spyware removal tools, and other common desktop, database or web-based applications; an understanding of server environments (eg. Windows servers, Exchange, Web, etc.) network configuration (eg. TCPIP, Cat5, VLANs, etc.). and client/server communications and how they relate to the desktop environment; ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems; develop technical documentation and end user materials; understanding, work ethic, and personality to provide end users understandable, friendly and timely support and train and work with students.

APPOINTMENT

Full time (40 hrs/week)

 

Pay will be based on the rules that apply to compensation upon transfer, reinstatement or voluntary demotion, beginning pay will not be less than minimum ($16.083).  Pay Range 07-04.
