| POSITION DESCRIPTION |
Description/Primary Responsibilities for Position A (Associate Lecturer): The Department of Geography/Earth Science (www.uwlax.edu/geography/) at UW-La Crosse is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to teach laboratory sections of introductory and advanced-level GIS courses during the next year. Teaching duties will include laboratories exercises in either or both the Introduction to GIS or Advanced GIS courses using ArcGIS 9.2 or higher.
Qualifications (minimum): The successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree. in geography with specific emphasis on GIS plus five years of professional experience in GIS applications, excellent oral communication skills, and an ability to work collaboratively with academic colleagues and students.
% of appointment: Each appointment is for one academic semester beginning on Aug. 25, 2008 and Jan. 19, 2009 and is up to 50% time.
Description/Primary Responsibilities for Position B (Associate Media Specialist): The Department of Geography/Earth Science (www.uwlax.edu/geography/) at UW-La Crosse is establishing a pool of qualified candidates to manage the daily operation of the two GIS laboratories in the Department. Duties include hardware and software maintenance, networking of computers, servers and peripherals, systems administration for a Windows environment that enables the operation of ESRI ArcGIS software and related extensions, ERDAS Imagine, plus other cartographic and geographical software programs.
Qualifications (minimum): The successful candidate will have a Bachelors Degree in geography with working knowledge of ArcGIS plus three years of experience in computer hardware/software maintenance, systems administration, managing user accounts, and networking in a Windows environment.
% of appointment: This appointment is for two months in the summer of 2008 at 50% appointment beginning around June 15, 2008 and ending around August 15, 2008.
