University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, Madison, Wisconsin is located near Lake Mendota on the West end of the University of Wisconsin campus. The building also houses the UW Medical school clinical programs, the UW School of Nursing and the Paul C. Carbonne, UW Comprehensive Cancer Center (UWCCC). The UWCCC, which includes the radiation oncology department, is nationally recognized as a leader in cancer research, education and treatment. The 488 bed hospital is also a leader in heart surgery, ophthalmology and organ transplants. It also houses the UW Children’s Hospital, a specialized pediatric facility. The fourfold mission of the hospital includes excellence in patient care, teaching, research and community outreach. The radiation oncology department treats a wide variety of primary tumors and other conditions utilizing modern equipment and a team of well trained specialists. Major equipment and treatment programs include:

• Two Varian linear accelerators ranging in energy from 6 Mev-23 Mev
• Varian Ximatrom simulators
• Nucletron Selectron High Dose Rate Afterloading system for Brachytherapy
• Conventional and three dimensional treatment planning systems
• Computerized Verify and Record System
• Hyperthermia
• Programs in stereotactic radiotherapy and IMRT
• Two Tomotherapy Units
