Community Oriented Policing
Community Oriented Policing (COP) is a partnership with the community on and around campus, which includes students, staff, and the surrounding neighborhoods. COP strives to maintain a dialogue between officers and the community, by creating a cooperative effort towards safety. This is accomplished by effectively communicating our goal as a police department, and requesting and receiving input from all involved in the community at hand. COP ensures that we are all involved in safeguarding the university and surrounding neighborhood.
UW-La Crosse Police Department is currently involved in many activities within the community. They include:
|
- Bike Patrol
- Alcohol Task Force
- HOPE (Hmong Opportunity Promotion and Education)
- Resident Hall Liaison Program
- Campus Safety Talks
- OC Presentation
- Steppin' Out in Pink
- Polar Bear Plunge
By establishing COP, the UW-La Crosse Police Department hopes to support a collaborative effort between this agency and the campus community in general. By doing this, UW-L Police hope to be a proactive law enforcement agency prepared to help before a serious problem arises.
