Student Employment Application

Completion of this application is required for students wishing to be considered for both work study and student employment. Applications remain on file for one semester only and are evaluated on the basis of:

  • Class/activity schedule
  • Library experience
  • Ability to make a long term employment commitment
  • Data entry/retrieval background
  • Public relations experience

Work study and students who have worked at Murphy Library are given priority in the application process. If you think you may be eligible for work study, please go to the Financial Aid Office, Graff Main Hall. If you have not heard from us by the second week of school, you may contact us at (608) 785-8520.


PLEASE MAKE YOUR SCHEDULE AS ACCURATE AS POSSIBLE WHEN SUBMITTING YOUR APPLICATION AND RE-SUBMIT IT AS CHANGES ARE MADE.

The application is a one page document. You will need to have word processing software and email access in order to successfully submit your application. Incomplete forms will not be eligible for employment. Paper copies are no longer accepted. 

 

A. Double click on Employment Application
  • Click "Cancel" on Enter Network Password box
  • Click on File, Save As
  • Click "Cancel" on Enter Network Password box
  • Go to your word processing file and directory where you would like to save file, i.e. Desktop
  • Save as your last and first name.rtf  Example: SmithJohn.rtf

Be sure to note the path to which the document has been saved as you will need to attach this file to the email when you send the document to the library. 

B. Open your word processing program
  • Open file you just saved
  • Press INSERT key to type over the form
  • Complete all information on form
  • Click on Save
  • Open your email program and send a new message
  • Send application as an ATTACHMENT to libraryoffice@uwlax.edu

If you are a UW-L student and use your university email program (Outlook). Click on the paperclip, go to the directory where you saved your application, double click on the file, and send. 

If any information on the application changes, you must submit an update. To file an updated application, make changes to the form you saved in your word processing file. Please note that information has to be complete as it REPLACES the original application on file.
