The La Crosse Medical Health Science Consortium is composed of two regional medical systems and three institutions of higher education: Franciscan Skemp Healthcare/Mayo Health System and Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center; and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse, Viterbo University, and Western Wisconsin Technical College.
While it was created in response to projected health care workforce shortages, it now also facilitates improvements in regional health and healthcare and supports applied research in health and medically related disciplines. It has several key initiatives.
The Consortium was formed in 1993 and is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation. It serves a multi-county area in Western Wisconsin, Northeastern Iowa, and Southeastern Minnesota.
