COURSE DESCRIPTION: A systematic analysis of soil morphology, weathering,
factors of soil formation and soil-forming processes. Emphasis is placed
on soil landscapes and the field study of soils. Special reference is made
to current systems of soil classification.
COURSE OBJECTIVES: a) to gain an understanding
of soils as three-dimensional bodies,
b) to analyze and interpret
the relationships between soil morphology and factors and processes of
soil formation,
c) to interpret soils in
a field setting, especially as they relate to broad patterns of soil landscapes.
