UW-L Falls at Third-Ranked UW-Whitewater

Whitewater, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse volleyball team, ranked 19th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), fell at third-ranked UW-Whitewater 3-1 (17-30, 30-21, 27-30, 13-30) Wednesday night in the Williams Center.

UW-L drops to 11-2 overall and 1-0 in the WIAC while UW-Whitewater improves to 11-2 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

Brianne Stankus led the Eagles with 16 kills, finishing with a .283 hitting percentage. Katelyn Carlson added 13 kills and .261 hitting percentage. UW-L finished with a .137 hitting percentage as a team with 46 kills and 19 errors in 197 attempts.

Samanatha Dries led UW-L with 35 assists while adding 16 digs. Amber Schoonover led the way with 19 digs while Melannie Tate finished with 16, Rosie Rislow 14 and Stankus 13.

The Eagles finished with eight ball handling errors in the match.

UW-L returns to action Friday, September 21 at city-rival Viterbo University beginning at 7 p.m.
