Eagles Win UW-La Crosse Invite; Three Players Named to All-Tournament Team

La Crosse, Wis. The UW-La Crosse volleyball team improved to
4-0 with a pair of victories at the UW-L Invitational Saturday afternoon in
Mitchell Hall.
The Eagles defeated Wartburg College (Iowa) 3-1 (30-23, 30-15, 26-30, 30-15)
in their opening match Saturday. UW-L then defeated the College of St. Benedict
(Minn.) 3-0 (30-27, 30-24, 30-27) in the invites championship match.
Versus Wartburg, UW-L hit .260 as a team. Brianne Stankus, a 2006 All-WIAC
Honorable Mention selection, led the way with 19 kills. She added 13 digs and
six assists. Nina Walch finished with 13 kills for the Eagles while Amber
Schoonover and Katelyn Carlson each had 11. Schoonover also had a
team-high 29 digs.
Samantha Dries finished with 54 assists.
Schoonover and Carlson each had 13 kills in the victory over St. Benedict.
Stankus and Jenna Starck had 11 kills each. Walch led the Eagles with
20 digs while Dries finished with 47 assists and 15 digs.
Dries, Schoonover and Stankus were named to the all-tournament team for UW-L.
UW-L returns to action Friday, September 7 at the Colorado College Invite.
