UW-L Opens Outdoor Season at Wartburg Select Meet

Waverly, Iowa – The UW-La Crosse women’s track & field team opened its outdoor season with a fourth-place finish at the Wartburg College Select Meet Saturday afternoon at Walston-Hoover Stadium. The Eagles finished with 118.70 team points. Western Illinois University finished first with 145.50 points. A total of 10 teams competed.
UW-L's Abby Lien and Caitlin Schetter won individual events Saturday. Lien took the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.86) while Schetter won the long jump (19-3 1/2). Schetter was also third in the triple jump (37-1).
Other top finishes on the track included the Eagles' 4x100 (49.19) and 4x400 (3:56.40) meter relays each finishing third. Sarah Duchow was fourth (26.37) and Katie Steingraeber sixth (26.52) in the 200-meter dash while Stephanie Lasko finished sixth in the 100-meter dash (12.89).
UW-L's Chris Clausen was sixth in the 100-meter hurdles (15.50) while Mary Olson finished fifth (12:28.47) and Megan Johnson sixth (12:32.42) in the 3,000-meter steeplechase.
In the field events, Amanda Bly placed second in the javelin throw (114-11) while Megan Nitka was fifth (100-7). Alecia Ellingstad finished tied for third in the pole vault (11-5 3/4).
AnnMarie Glejf and Jenna Starck tied for fourth in the high jump (4-11). Krista Kopetsky finished third in the long jump (17-7 1/2) while Abby Schultz was fourth in the triple jump (35-10 1/2). Christy Bohl was fifth in the shot put (41-1 1/2).
