UW-L Wins Warhawk Classic; Schetter Wins Two Events

Whitewater, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s track & field team won the Warhawk Classic Saturday afternoon at UW-Whitewater. The Eagles finished with 175 team points while Wartburg, Iowa was second with 138. UW-Whitewater was third (111) followed by Augustana, Ill. (107), Winona State, Minn. (74) and Loras, Iowa (63).
Caitlin Schetter captured the long (19-3 1/2) and triple (38-0 3/4) jumps Saturday for the Eagles. She set a school record with her mark in the long jump. Chris Clausen won the 55-meter hurdles (8.51) while Kaitlin Genthe took the pole vault (11-5 3/4).
Other top finishers on the track for UW-L included: Danica Schaefer placed second in the 400-meter dash (58.91) while Katelynn Williams was second in the 5,000-meter run (17:18.94). The Eagles' distance medley relay also finished second (12:22.77).
Sara Duchow was third in the 55-meter dash (7.42) while Caitlin Perra finished third in the 400-meter dash (59.15). UW-L's Alison Kolinski placed third in the 3,000-meter run (10:49.37) and Kristen Howe was third in the 5,000-meter run (18:42.25).
In field events, Alecia Ellingstad was second (11-5 3/4) and Tiffany Ness third (10-6) in the pole vault while AnnMarie Glejf finished second in the triple jump (36-8 1/2).
Jessie Schulz finished third in the long jump (16-6) and Christy Bohl was third in the shot put (41-10 3/4).
