UW-L Competes at UW-Platteville Invitational; Eagles Win Seven Individual Titles

Platteville, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women’s track & field team competed at the Nike/Impact Sports UW-Platteville Invitational Sunday afternoon. No team scores were recorded.

The Eagles captured seven individual events Sunday while also winning two relays. On the track, Sarah Duchow took the 200-meter dash (25.31) while Caitlin Perra won the 400-meter dash (58.74). Jenna Gerten captured the 10,000-meter run (38:49.39) and Abby Lien the 400-meter hurdles (1:04.49).

UW-L also won the 4x100 (48.89) and 4x400 (3:57.75) meter relays.

In the field events, Ashton May took the long jump (18-0 1/4) while Caitlin Schetter captured the triple jump (37-0 1/4). Christy Bohl won the shot put (44-4).

Other top finishes on the track for the Eagles included: Caitlin Wipperman was second (13.08) and Cassie Grosse (13.12) in the 100-meter dash while Schetter was second (25.75) and Danica Schaefer third (26.04) in the 200-meter dash.

For the 5,000-meter run, UW-L's Kristina Bennwitz finished second (18:44.08) and Alison Kolinski third (18:51.35). Kayla La Porte was third in the 10,000-meter run (40:47.54) while Mary Olson finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:56.3).

Top finishes in the field events included Sarah Mitchell placing second in the high jump (4-11 1/2) while Alecia Ellingstad and Kaitlin Genthe tied for second in the pole vault (10-10). In the long jump, Katie Fondow placed second (17-4 1/4) and Jamie Scott third (17-2 1/4) for the Eagles.

UW-L's Maggie May was second (35-9 1/2) and AnnMarie Glejf third (35-6 3/4) in the triple jump with Amanda Bly finishing third in the javelin throw (106-8).
