UW-L Competes at Badger Open; Duchow Wins Event

Madison, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women’s track & field team competed at the Badger Open Saturday afternoon at the University of Wisconsin. No team scores were kept.
Sara Duchow captured the 60-meter dash (7.98) for the Eagles while also placing fourth in the 200-meter dash (26.13).
Kailey Charlton was second (8.01) and Cassie Grosse third (8.07) in the 60-meter dash while Caitlin Wippermann finished fifth in the 200-meter dash (26.17). UW-L had three of the top-four finishers in the 400-meter dash as Abby Lien placed second (59.44), Katie Steingraeber third (59.64) and Ashley Pershing fourth (59.84).
In the mile run, Megan Johnson placed third (5:07.79) and Meghan Dugan fifth (5:17.01). Sammy Groth finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles (9.46) while Maggie Leyendecker was fifth in the 800-meter run (2:20.97).
In the field events, Katie Fondow was second in the triple jump (35-7 3/4) and third in the long jump (17-9 ¾). Krista Kopetsky finished fourth in the long jump (17-2).
Christy Bohl placed second in the shot put (42-10 ¼) and fifth in the weight throw (46-6 ¾) while Tina Schmidt was third in the weight throw (49-5 ¾). UW-L’s Jenna Starck was fourth (5-2 ¼) and Kayla Johnson tied for fifth (5-0 ¼) in the high jump.
