UW-L Second After First Day of WIAC Outdoor Championships; Schetter and Perleberg Win Titles

Oshkosh, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's track & field team is in second-place after the first day of competition Friday at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Outdoor Championships at UW-Oshkosh's J.J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium. The Eagles have 66.0 team points while UW-Oshkosh leads wtih 76.0. UW-Eau Claire is in third-place (51.0) followed by UW-Stevens Point (29.0), UW-River Falls (21.0), UW-Stout (16.0), UW-Platteville (8.0), UW-Whitewater (6.0) and UW-Superior (0.0).
UW-L's Caitlin Schetter and Stephanie Perleberg captured individual titles Friday as Schetter took the long jump (19-0) and Perleberg the 3,000-meter steeplechase (10:35.30).
The Eagles' Katie Fondow was second in the long jump (19-0) while Ashton May finished fourth (18-0 1/4) and Jamie Scott ninth (16-10 1/2).
Along with Perleberg's first-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, UW-L's Megan Johnson was fourth (11:16.04), Mary Olson fifth (11:29.48) and Michelle Horn sixth (11:31.09).
Kaitlin Joyce finished third in the pole vault (11-2 1/2) while teammate Christy Moses was eighth (10-2 3/4). Christy Bohl was fifth in the javelin throw (114-4) and Megan Nitka 10th (98-9).
UW-L's Kayla La Porte finished fifth (39:41.71) and Ellen Kumm eighth (40:13.91) in the 10,000-meter run.
In preliminary track action Friday, Schetter (12.12), Elizabeth Kramer (12.46), May (12.47), Fondow (12.63) and Kailey Charlton (12.66) all advanced to Saturday's 100-meter dash final while Schetter (25.71), May (25.92), Danica Schaefer (25.93) and Lauren Seidl (25.95) advanced to the 200-meter dash championship.
Schaefer (59.36), Kelsey Katarow (59.89) and Laurel Beck (1:00.02) advanced in the 400-meter dash while Beth Richmond (2:18.24) and Kriston Siemianowski (2:21.61) advanced in the 800-meter run.
Maggie May will run in the 100 (15.30) and 400 (1:05.37) meter hurdles finals. Scott (15.38) will also compete in the 100-meter hurdles final (15.38).
