UW-L Competes at UW-Platteville Invite; Fondow Wins Long Jump

Platteville, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women's track & field team continued its outdoor season at the UW-Platteville Invitational Friday night. No team scores were kept.

The Eagles' Katie Fondow captured the long jump Friday (18-4 1/2) while Ashton May was third (17-9 1/2), Kjirsten Jacobson fourth (17-2 1/2) and Abby Schulz tied for fifth (17-1 1/2). Schulz was also fifth in the triple jump (35-8).

UW-L's Christy Bohl placed second in the shot put (42-5 1/4) while in the high jump, Sara Mitchell tied for third (5-1) and Jenna Starck tied for fifth (5-1).

Kaitlin Genthe was fourth (11-6 1/2) and Kaitlin Joyce sixth (10-6 3/4) in the pole vault. Kayla Johnson finished sixth in the javelin throw (99-11).

On the track, the Eagles had three of the top-four finishers in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Stephanie Perleberg was second (10:49.15), Megan Johnson third (11:16.18) and Mary Olson fourth (11:39.70). UW-L had four of the top-six finishers in the 10,000-meter run. Kayla La Porte finished third (39:53.91), Ellen Kumm fourth (39:59.40), Corrina Jones fifth (41:34.47) and Nichelle Roessler sixth (44:04.24).

Other top finishers on the track included Megan Knutson placing fourth in the 800-meter run (2:22.65), Michelle Horn fifth in the 1,500-meter run (4:51.74) and Maggie May sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:07.61). Lauren Seidl was sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.16).

UW-L's 4x100-meter relay placed third (48.53) while the 4x400-meter relay was sixth (4:13.35).
