UW-L Earns Pair of Wins

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s tennis team improved to 13-6 on the season with a pair of dual victories Saturday in Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse. The Eagles defeated UW-Stevens Point, 7-2, and Edgewood College (Wis.), 9-0.

Carlie Bohrman, Katie McDonald, Sarah Schoenwaelder and Kristen Holle each went 2-0 in singles play Saturday. Bohrman earned a 6-4, 6-1 win over UW-Stevens Point's Emily Riordan at No. 2 singles and defeated Hannah Pincsak of Edgewood 6-1, 6-1, at No. 1 singles.

McDonald earned a pair of wins at No. 3 singles while Schoenwaelder won both of her matches at No. 4 and Holle went 2-0 at No. 5. McDonald defeated Kaitlyn King of UW-Stevens Point (6-0, 6-1) and Kate Brondyke of Edgewood (6-1, 6-0). Schoenwaelder defeated Kaylei Sorensen of UW-Stevens Point (6-7, 6-4, 11-9) and Bridget Prendergast of Edgewood (6-1, 6-1).

Holle beat UW-Stevens Point's Emily Oxton (6-2, 6-1) and Edgewood's Rachel Mixtacki (6-0, 6-0).

UW-L's Debbie Braun earned a win at No. 2 singles over Kelsey Steinhorst of Edgewood (6-2, 7-5). At No. 6 singles, Katie Cegelski defeated Lauren Kluz of UW-Stevens Point (6-4, 6-0) while Jill Stenzel defeated Leslie Reed of Edgewood (6-1, 6-1).

In doubles play, Bohrman/Schoenwaelder went 2-0 at No. 1 while Braun/McDonald won both of their matches at No. 2. Bohrman/Schoenwaelder defeated Rachel Benn/Oxton of UW-Stevens Point (8-4) and Pincsak/Brondyke of Edgewood (8-3).

Braun/McDonald defeated Riordan/King of UW-Stevens Point (8-2) and Steinhorst/Prendergast of Edgewood (8-0).

The Eagles' Anna Schmidt/Emily Karl defeated Mixtacki/Reed of Edgewood (8-1) at No. 3 doubles.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, April 26 at UW-Whitewater in the WIAC Automatic Qualifiying Tournament. Action begins at 9 a.m.
