UW-L Falls to Luther

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s tennis team dropped to 11-6 on the season with a 6-3 loss to Luther College (Iowa) Tuesday afternoon at Veterans Tennis Courts. The Norse improve to 26-6 with the win.

Luther won five of six singles matches. Molly Beyer earned a win over UW-L's Carlie Bohrman at No. 1 singles (6-2, 6-3) while Alana Humpal defeated Debbie Braun at No. 2 (7-5, 6-3).

The Norse' Brynne Zinnecker defeated Katie McDonald at No. 3 singles (6-1, 5-7, 10-6) while Kelsie Allen beat Sarah Schoenwaelder at No. 4 (7-6, 6-2).

UW-L's Kristen Holle picked up a victory at No. 5 singles, beating Mary Fairfield (2-6, 6-3, 12-10). Luther's Amy Christenson defeated Katie Cegelski at No. 6 (6-2, 6-3).

In doubles, the Eagles came away with two wins. Bohrman/Schoenwaelder defeated Beyer/Zinnecker at No. 1 (8-6) while McDonald/Braun beat Humpal/Kathryn Nichols at No. 2 (8-6). Luther's duo of Allen/Christenson defeated UW-L's Holle/Stephanie Platto at No. 3 doubles (9-7).

UW-L returns to action Saturday, April 19 playing UW-Stevens Point and Edgewood College (Wis.) in Madison, Wisconsin. The Eagles and Pointers will play at noon while UW-L and Edgewood face each other at 3 p.m.
