UW-L Splits Pair of Home Matches

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s tennis team split a pair of matches at Veterans Courts Saturday afternoon. The Eagles fell 7-2 to UW-Whitewater in WIAC play before coming back to record a 8-1 non-conference win over Lawrence University (Wis.).

UW-L is now 5-2 overall and 2-2 in the WIAC.

UW-Whitewater took five of six singles matches in its win over UW-L. Carlie Bohrman at No. 2 singles defeated Jessica Farrar 6-4, 6-3 for the Eagles' victory. In doubles, Bohrman/Sarah Schoenwaelder defeated Ingrid Stensvaag/TIffany Dawson 8-3 at No. 1 doubles for UW-L's only victory. The Warhawks took the other two doubles matches.

Against Lawrence, UW-L came back to win five of singles. Bohrman defeated Lisa Ritland at No. 2 singles (6-1, 6-2); Katie McDonald defeated Emily Dalton at No. 3 (6-0, 6-0) and Schoenwaelder defeated Tara Lahtiten at No. 4 (6-3, 6-3). At No. 5 singles, Anna Schmidt beat Emma Kent (6-2, 6-2) and at No. 6, Kristen Holle defeated Leila Sahar (6-0, 6-0).

The Eagles swept all three doubles matches with the Vikings. Bohrman/Schoenwaelder defeated Hanah McCarthy/Lahtinen at No. 1 (8-2); Debbie Braun/McDonald defeated Ritland/Greta Elsass at No. 2 (8-1) and Brit Wagner/Kelley McDonell beat Dalton/Sahar at No. 3 (8-3).
