UW-L Swimmers Compete at Falcon Invite; Divers See Action at UW-Oshkosh Invite

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's and men's swimming teams competed at the UW-River Falls Falcon Invitational Friday-Saturday at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. No team scores were kept. The diving teams for both squads saw action at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational Saturday.

In the women's meet, Chelsea Hoff recorded three top-four finishes for the Eagles. She captured the 100 backstroke (58.66) while placing third in the 50 freestyle (24.24) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (53.60). Jennifer Bryson was sixth in the 400 I.M. (4:54.86).

UW-L recorded top-six finishes in five relays this weekend. The team was third in the 400 freestyle relay (3:37.80) while the 200 freestyle relay of Hoff, Brianna Peyer, Danielle Rux and Clare Hathaway placed fourth (1:38.85). Katelyn Hartung, Bryson, Anita Talavera and Rux were sixth in the 800 freestyle relay (8:12.01).

The Eagles' 200 and 400 medley relays both placed fifth. Kristi Parker, Sarah Russart, Kacie O'Brien and Hoff were fifth in the 200 medley (1:52.40) while Parker, Russart, Hoff and Hathaway teamed to finish fifth in the 400 medley (4:03.30).

In diving at UW-Oshkosh, Amanda Medendorp captured the 1-meter (416.70 points) and 3-meter (396.45) titles for UW-L. Kristina Wanous was second in the 1-meter (390.60) and 3-meter (379.45). The Eagles' Shannon Doyle placed third in the 1-meter (385.75) and sixth in the 3-meter (308.70) while Rachel LaValley finished fourth in the 1-meter (334.65) and 3-meter (328.75). Samantha Koch was third in the 3-meter (330.75) and sixth in the 1-meter (315.50).

In the men's portion of the meet, five individual recorded top-six finishes for UW-L. Tony Wolff was second (21.39) and Matthew Diehl sixth (21.80) in the 50 freetyle while Christopher Boyle finished fifth in the 100 freestyle (47.84). Anthony Schmidt was sixth in the 200 I.M. (2:01.09) and Karl Richters sixth in the 100 breaststroke (59.63).

UW-L's relays recorded five top-five finishes this weekend. The 200 freestyle relay of Diehl, Boyle, Lance Scadden and Wolff were second (1:25.22) while the 400 freestyle relay was third (3:13.37). Richters, Boyle, Schmidt and Michael Beilman formed the 800 freestyle relay which finished fifth (7:20.73).

The Eagles' 200 medley relay of Casey Borden, Cole Swanson, Schmidt and Boyle finished fifth (3:38.60) while the 400 medley relay of Scadden, Swanson, Beilman and Boyle were fourth (1:38.06).

In diving at the UW-Oshkosh Invite, Tanner Classon was third in the 1-meter (318.15) and fifth in the 3-meter (274.85) while Chris Vergeront was sixth in the 3-meter (215.55) and seventh in the 1-meter (225.20).

UW-L returns to action Saturday, December 8 at UW-Eau Claire beginning at 1 p.m.
