UW-L Defeats UW-Eau Claire in Dual

Eau Claire, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's and men's swimming and diving teams earned duals wins at UW-Eau Claire Saturday afternoon. The Eagles' women's squad won 176-67 while the men's team defeated the Blugolds 136-103.
In women's action, Chelsea Hoff won the 200 freestyle (2:02.06) and 200 backstroke (2:11.08) for the Eagles while Amanda Medendorp took the 1-meter (258.70 points) and 3-meter (258.65) diving competitions.
UW-L's Kacie O'Brien won the 200 breaststroke (2:31.61) and finished second in the 200 butterfly (2:21.61) while Anita Talavera won the 500 freestyle (5:22.31) and placed third in the 1000 freestyle (11:11.77).
Other winners for the Eagles included: Brianna Peyer in the 50 freestyle (25.58), Maria Krisch in the 200 I.M. (2:18.38), Jennifer Kolmos in the 200 butterfly (2:20.83) and Danielle Rux in the 100 freestyle (55.67).
Kristina Wanous placed second in the 1-meter (233.50) and 3-meter (258.00) diving while Jennifer Bryson was second in the 1000 freestyle (11:07.72) and Erica Knuesel second in the 200 I.M. (2:20.34). UW-L's Elisabeth Misener finished second in the 200 backstroke (2:15.11) and Ellie Werner was second in the 200 breaststroke (2:35.80).
The Eagles' also took first in the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays. Hoff, Melissa Klotz, Katelyn Hartung and Knuesel won the 400 medley (4:08.55) while Rux, Cassie Fischer, Bryson and Hartung took the 400 freestyle (3:50.14).
In men's action, Christopher Boyle won the 100 (49.21) and 200 (1:50.06) freestyle for UW-L. Matthew Diehl captured the 50 freestyle (22.03), Tony Wolff the 200 I.M. (2:03.32) and Michael Hruska the 200 breaststroke (2:14.04). Hruska was also second in the 200 I.M. (2:05.48).
UW-L's Michael Beilman was second in the 200 (1:50.56) and 500 (5:01.88) freestyle while Karl Richters placed second in the 1000 freestyle (10:21.76) and 200 backstroke (2:05.96). Micah Fulmer finished second in the 50 freestyle (23.02) and third in the 100 freestyle (51.29).
Tanner Classon was second in the 1-meter diving (220.65 points) and third in 3-meter (174.65). Anthony Schmidt placed second in the 200 butterfly (2:03.58) and Colin Schmidt was second in the 100 freestyle (51.13).
The Eagles swept the 400 medley and 400 freestyle relays. The 400 medley relay of Eric Schleicher, Cole Swanson, Anthony Schmidt and Diehl were first at 3:41.26 while the 400 freestyle relay of Diehl, Boyle, Casey Borden and Fulmer won with a time of 3:17.55.
