UW-L Wins WIAC Relays; Sets Three Records

La Crosse, Wis.. - The UW-La Crosse women's swimming and diving team captured the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Relays Saturday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles finished with 174 team points while UW-Stevens Point was second with 138 points. UW-Eau Claire placed third (102) followed by UW-Whitewater (72) and UW-Oshkosh (48).
UW-L won 11 of 13 events Saturday as the Eagles set three WIAC Relay records. The 300-yard backstroke relay set a record (3:02.45) while the 300-yard breastsroke relay (3:24.57) and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:37.77) also set records. The 300 breaststroke relay consisted of Brianna Peyer, Sarah Russart and Kacie O'Brien.
The Eagles 400-yard medley relay of Kristi Parker, Russart, Chelsea Hoff and Clare Hathaway were first (4:03.33) while the 800-yard freestyle relay of Katelyn Hartung, Anita Talavera, Danielle Rux and Jennifer Bryson also placed first (8:00.41). UW-L's 300-yard individual medley relay of O'Brien, Elisabeth Misener and Maria Krisch was first (3:08.21) as was the 200-yard freestyle relay of Hoff, Peyer, Rux and Hathaway (1:38.72).
Talavera, Russart, Bryson won the 1,500-yard freestyle relay (16:18.70) while Parker, Peyer, O'Brien and Hathaway took the 200-yard medley relay (1:51.37). The Eagles also won the 1-meter (242.10 points) and 3-meter (248.20) diving competitions.
In the 300-yard butterfly relay, UW-L placed second (3:06.79) with the relay of Misener, Danielle Gray and Hartung. The Eagles' 850-yard freestyle relay of Parker, Erica Knuesel, Talavera and Bryson also placed second (8:53.78).
