UW-Platteville Earns First-Ever Win over UW-L

Platteville, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-Platteville soccer team earned its first-ever win over UW-La Crosse Wednesday night with 1-0 victory in Platteville. The Eagles were 18-0-1 all-time against the Pioneers entering Wednesday night's match.

UW-L falls to 1-3-1 overall and 0-2 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) with the loss while UW-Platteville improves to 3-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the conference.

It marked the Eagles' third straight 1-0 loss after falling to UW-Oshkosh (Sept. 12) and Augustana College, Ill. (Sept. 13).

UW-Platteville's Anna Strasser notched her third goal of the season at 67:49 with an assist from Allie Metcalfe for the only scoring of the night.

UW-L outshot UW-Platteville, 17-9. Sagan Pizzingrilli had two saves for the Eagles while Kaitlyn Wiedeman finished with five for the Pioneers. UW-Platteville also had one team save.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Sept. 19 at UW-Superior beginning at 2:30 p.m.
