UW-L Opens Season with Overtime Win

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's soccer team opened its 2007 season with a 2-1 overtime victory over the University of Minnesota-Morris Sunday afternoon at Veterans Field. The Cougars fall to 0-2 on the season.
Amy Cory tallied both goals for the Eagles, giving UW-L a 1-0 lead at 12:15 with an assist from Ramsey Weyenberg.
Minnesota-Morris tied the contest at 1-1 at 76:56 as Maddie Haisley scored and Andrea Lund getting the assist. Cory then scored the game-winning goal for UW-L, just :28 into overtime with Chelsea Gilbertson and Sara McClellan recording the assists.
UW-L finished with 26 shots in the match, including 12 on goal. Minnesota-Morris totaled eight shots, three on goal.
Amanda Clark picked up the win for the Eagles making two saves while Andrea Dexter took the loss for the Cougars, recording nine saves.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, September 5 at the University of St. Thomas (Minn.).
