Cory Named to All-Central Region Soccer Team

La Crosse, Wis. University of Wisconsin-La Crosse senior forward Amy Cory of Crystal Lake, Ill. (South) has been named to the 2007 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) NCAA Division III All-Central Region Third Team. It is the first career all-region honor for Cory.
She was selected to the 2007 All-Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference
(WIAC) Soccer Team in a vote by the league coaches in November, marking her
first all-conference honor.
Cory led UW-L in goals (12), assists (6) and points (30) this season as she started 17 matches. Her 12 goals are tied for sixth in single-season school history while her 30 points ranks sixth. Cory ranked fourth in the WIAC this season in goals and points. She finished second in the league in goals per game (0.71) and third in points per game (1.76).
She also tied for third in the conference in game-winning goals (4), tied for seventh in assists (6) and seventh in assists per game (0.35).
A transfer from St. Marys University (Minn.), Cory started 34 matches
in her two seasons at UW-L. She ranks 11th in school history in career goals
(11) and tied for 11th in points (33). Cory had two goals in five different
matches this year. She tallied twice against Minnesota-Morris, Cornell College
(Iowa), Simpson College (Iowa), UW-Superior and UW-Oshkosh.
Cory was a two-time WIAC Offensive Player of the Week this season.
UW-L finished 11-6-1 overall and 5-3 in the WIAC this year. The 11 victories were the most since 2004 (11-7-1) while the five league wins were the most since 2003 (5-2-1). The Eagles fell 5-1 at UW-Eau Claire November 2 in the WIAC Tournament Semifinals. UW-L advanced to the semifinals after a 3-2 overtime victory over UW-Oshkosh in the quarterfinals October 30. It was UW-Ls first conference tournament win since 1999.
