Weyenberg Selected to D3kicks.com All-Region Second Team

La Crosse, Wis. – University of Wisconsin-La Crosse junior midfielder Ramsey Weyenberg of Appleton (East) has been selected to the 2007 D3kicks.com All-Central Region Women’s Soccer Second Team.
The All-Central Region Team includes individuals representing the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, Midwest Conference, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, University Athletic Association and Upper Midwest Athletic Conference.
Weyenberg, who was named to the 2007 All-WIAC Team, started all 18 matches for the Eagles. She finished second on the team in goals (9), assists (5) and points (23). Weyenberg was seventh in the WIAC this season in goals and points. She also tied for ninth in assists and tied for third in game-winning goals with four. Weyenberg had two goals at Cornell College (Iowa) and versus UW-Oshkosh this year.
A three-year letter winner at UW-L, Weyenberg is tied for sixth in school history in assists (11). She is also tied for 11th in career points (33) and tied for 14th in goals (11).
Weyenberg was named the WIAC Offensive Player of the Week once this year.
UW-L finished 11-6-1 overall and 5-3 in the WIAC this year. The 11 victories were the most since 2004 (11-7-1) while the five league wins were the most since 2003 (5-2-1). The Eagles fell 5-1 at UW-Eau Claire November 2 in the WIAC Tournament Semifinals. UW-L advanced to the semifinals after a 3-2 overtime victory over UW-Oshkosh in the quarterfinals October 30. It was UW-L’s first conference tournament win since 1999.
