UW-L Defeats Winona State in Home Opener

La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics squad opened its home schedule with a dual victory over Winona State University (Minn.) Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles earned the win by the score of 184.375 to 182.000.

UW-L's Jackie LaFleur finished second in the all-around (36.825) while Erin Sommer was third (35.575). LaFleur captured the vault (9.550) while tying for fourth on the floor exercise (9.450) with Sommer. Sommer also placed fourth on the vault (9.325).

Kasey Clausen won the uneven parallel bars (9.625) for the Eagles while also finishing fourth on the balance beam (9.125). Gabi Hooper was second on the floor exercise (9.600) and third on the vault (9.425).

The Eagles' Kelsey Matula recorded a pair of third-place results. She was third on the balance beam (9.150) and floor (9.500). Schaelyn McFadden was third on the uneven parallel bars (9.400) and tied for fifth on the vault (9.300) for UW-L.

Mackenzie Howard was fifth on the balance beam (9.075).

Alexandra Nugent of Winona State took the all-around title (37.200) while also winning the floor exercise (9.625) and second on the vault (9.475).
