UW-L Wins Second Straight with Victory over UW-Oshkosh

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s basketball team won its second consecutive game with a 60-40 victory over UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles even their overall record at 8-8 and improve to 3-4 in the WIAC while the Titans fall to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in the WIAC. 

UW-Oshkosh got off to a fast start, jumping out to a 6-2 lead behind a pair of three-pointers from Whitney Tyriver before UW-L responded with a 10-0 run over the next seven minutes to take a 12-6 lead. The Titans answered with a 9-2 run of their own to take a 15-14 lead.  It would be the Titans' last lead of the day as the Eagles closed out the first half on a 16-2 run to take a 30-17 halftime advantage.

The Titans cut the Eagles’ lead to 11 with 17:13 remaining in the game, but that is as close as they would get for the remainder of the game, as UW-L pushed their lead to 20 at the final horn.

Lindsay Wahl scored a career-high 25 points for UW-L, going eight-of-nine from the field and nine-of-10 at the free throw line. Wahl also hauled in six rebounds. Mackenzie Hunter finished with 16 points for the Eagles on six-of-13 shooting from the field (two-of-three from behind the three-point arc) and hitting both of her free throw attempts. Anna Halat finished with a career-high 10 rebounds for the Eagles, who outrebounded the Titans, 39-30. 

UW-L shot 38.2% from the field for the game, including 57.1% (four-of-seven) from three-point range. The team shot 93.3% (14-of-15) at the free throw line, the second-best shooting percentage in single-game school history.

UW-Oshkosh shot 34.0% from the field, including 33.3% (five-of-15) from three-point range. The team shot 33.3% (one-of-three) at the line. Tyriver led the Titans with 13 points on five-of-nine shooting, including hitting all three of her three-point attempts. Erin Baganz also finished in double-figures with 12 points.
