UW-L Tied for Sixth After Second Day of NCAA III Championships; Three Earn All-America Honors

Marietta, Ohio – The UW-La Crosse men's track & field team is tied for sixth-place after the second day of competition at the 2009 NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships at Don Drumm Stadium at Marietta College. The Eagles have 14.0 team points. UW-Oshkosh leads the men's standings with 24.0 points with UW-Whitewater second with 20.0 and Linfield College (Ore.) third with 18.0. SUNY-Cortland is fourth (16.0) and Trinity University (Texas) fifth with 15.0.
McMurry University (Texas) is tied for sixth with UW-L with 14.0 points. Concordia University (Wis.) is eighth (11.0) while UW-Eau Claire, Rowan University (N.J.), Keene State College (N.H.), Hamilton College (N.Y.) and Buena Vista University (Iowa) are tied for ninth with 10.0 points.
The Eagles' Paul Zdroik earned NCAA III All-America honors with a second-place finish in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (8:57.87) Friday night. It is Zdroik's fourth career All-America honor, including his first outdoors. He was on UW-L's second-place distance medley relay at the 2007 and 2008 indoor national meet and finished second in the mile run in 2008.
Bobby Riley and Luke Crowley both picked up All-America accolades Friday in the discus throw as Riley placed fourth (164-4) and Crowley eighth (160-4). Riley has now earned eight career All-America honors, including four outdoors. He was second in the shot put and third in the discus throw in 2007 and third in the discus in 2008. Riley has also won three indoor national shot put titles (2007, 2008, 2009) and finished seventh in 2005.
Crowley earned his first career All-America honor with his eighth-place finish in the discus Friday.
UW-L's Paul Yerhot failed to advance to the 400-meter dash final Saturday after running 49.11 in Friday's preliminaries.
