UW-L Competes at Two Last Chance Qualifying Meets
For Immediate Release: Saturday, May 10, 2008
La Crosse, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse men’s track & field team sent student-athletes to two last chance qualifying meets over the weekend. The Eagles competed at the Dr. Keeler Invitational at North Central College (Ill.) May 8-9 and at the UW-Oshkosh Open May 10. No team scores were recorded at either meet.
At North Central, the Eagles’ Alex Tapplin placed fourth in the pole vault (15-7) while teammates Jeremiah Burish (14-6 3/4), Joel Nernberger (14-0 3/4) and Jason Prochnow (14-0 3/4) finished ninth, 10th and 11th respectively.
On the track, UW-L’s Adam Kleinmaus was fifth (1:53.82) and Andrew Boldt eighth (1:54.21) in the 800-meter run while Kevin Oelstrom was sixth in the 5,000-meter run (14:38.91).
Cory Hayden finished fifth (30:44.80) and John Heitzman eighth (31:26.81) in the 10,000-meter run while Logan O’Grady was eighth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase (9:20.01).
At UW-Oshkosh, Alex Rooker swept the 100 (11.16) and 200 (21.95) meter dashes for the Eagles while Matt Gordy was second in the 100 (11.17) and third in the 200 (22.58). UW-L’s Sam Nolden placed second in the 200-meter dash (22.44).
Dylan Randolph was second (48.69) and Jonathon Doble third (48.97) in the 400-meter dash. Pat Bryan was second in the 110-meter hurdles (15.69).
In the field events, Clark Lundquist and Dave Stauder tied for first in the high jump (6-4 1/4) for UW-L. Prochnow placed second (14-5 1/4) and Burish third (14-5 1/4) in the pole vault while Anthony Hasse was second in the triple jump (46-3 1/2).
UW-L’s Bill Warren finished third in the shot put (48-10 1/4) and Donovan Winter was third in the discus throw (133-11).
UW-L returns to action Thursday, May 15 hosting an NCAA Qualifier at 4 p.m.
