UW-L Extends Winning Streak to Four with Two Home Victories

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse mens tennis team extended its winning streak to four with two home victories Saturday in Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse. The Eagles, who improve to 4-1 overall, earned a 9-0 win over St. Norbert College (Wis.) and a 7-2 victory over Winona State University (Minn.).
In the victory over the Green Knights, the Eagles' Mike Mooren earned a win over Mike Hyrczyk at No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-1) while Joey Van Lieshout defeated Chris Schmitz at No. 2 singles (7-5, 7-5).
Dale Wroblewski defeated Adrian Acosta at No. 3 singles (6-2, 6-1) for UW-L while Nathan Fekete beat Eric Koppmann at No. 4 (6-1, 6-0). The Eagles' Paul Vickers earned a win over Ryan Kerswill at No. 5 singles (6-1, 7-5) and Doug Marmar beat Nate Tackaberry at No. 6 (6-2, 6-4).
In doubles play, Van Lieshout/Wroblewski defeated Acosta/Kerswill at No. 1 (9-8), Mooren/Fekete beat Hyrczyk/Schmitz at No. 2 (8-5) and Mike Frenzel/Taylor Schliewe defeated Koppmann/Dan Richter at No. 3 (8-5).
UW-L won five of six singles matches in its victory over Winona State. Van Lieshout defeated Gage Davidson at No. 1 singles (6-2, 7-6), but the Warriors picked up a win at No. 2 singles as Aaron Lentz defeated Wroblewski (6-4, 1-6, 3-2 retired).
The Eagles' Fekete beat Zach Williams at No. 3 (6-3, 7-5), Vickers beat Stuart Booth at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1), Frenzel defeated Taylor Rens at No. 5 (6-3, 3-6, 6-3) and Marmar earned a win over Joel Shields at No. 6 (6-4, 7-6).
UW-L took two of three doubles matches as Van Lieshout/Wroblewski defeated Davidson/Lentz at No. 1 (9-8). Winona State's Williams/Booth beat Frenzel/Schliewe at No. 2 (9-8). The Eagles' Fekete/Sam Talarczyk defeated Rens/Tanner Bishop at No. 3 (8-5).
UW-L returns to action Friday, February 29 versus Carleton College (Minn.) in a match played in Rochester, Minnesota at 8:30 p.m.
