UW-L Ends Spring Trip with Win over South Dakota State

Orlando, Fla. - The UW-La Crosse men’s tennis team wrapped up its spring break trip with a 5-4 victory over South Dakota State University Wednesday in Orlando. The Eagles improve to 9-3 on the season while the Jackrabbits fall to 2-7.

Each team won three singles matches Wednesday. UW-L's Dale Wroblewski earned a win over Brian Hylle at No. 3 singles (6-4, 6-3) while Paul Vickers defeated Wade Kippley at No. 5 (6-1, 6-1) and Doug Marmar beat Cody Malik at No. 6 (7-5, 6-1).

South Dakota State's Michael Engdahl defeated Mike Mooren at No. 1 singles (7-5, 7-5) while Corey Paluch beat Joey Van Lieshout at No. 2 (6-1, 6-1). The Jackrabbits' Steve Grantz defeated Nathan Fekete at No. 4 (6-3, 6-4).

UW-L won two of three doubles matches. Mooren/Fekete beat Hylle/Grantz at No. 2 (8-5) and Mike Frenzel/Taylor Schliewe defeated Jeff Hughes/Kippley at No. 3 (8-5). South Dakota won at No. 1 doubles as Paluch/Engdahl beat Wroblewski/Van Lieshout (8-6).

UW-L returns to action versus St. Cloud State University (Minn.) Sunday, March 30 in Winona, Minnesota at 11 a.m.
