UW-L Sweeps Lawrence in Home Opener

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse mens tennis team opened its 2008 home season with a 9-0 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 2-1 on the season while the Vikings fall to 0-1.
UW-L swept all nine matches Friday night. In singles, Mike Mooren earned a victory at No. 1 singles over Ryan Dunn (6-1, 6-3). Joey Van Lieshout defeated Daniel Hertel at No. 2 singles (6-2, 6-7, 10-8) and Dale Wroblewski defeated Kyle Nodarse at No. 3 (6-2, 6-0).
At No. 4 singles, Nathan Fekete beat Travis Fondow (6-0, 6-2) while Paul Vickers defeated Lincoln Thomas at No. 5 singles (6-1, 6-1) and Doug Marmar earned a win over David Klaus at No. 6 (6-0, 6-4).
In doubles, Van Lieshout/Wroblewski defeated Dunn/Hertel at No. 1 (8-4). Mooren/Fekete earned a victory over Thomas/Fondow at No. 2 doubles (8-3) while Mike Frenzel/Taylor Schliewe defeated Nodarse/Roy Wimer (8-3) at No. 3.
UW-L returns to action Saturday, February 23 hosting St. Norbert College (Wis.) at 9 a.m. and Winona State University (Minn.) at 3 p.m.
