UW-L Splits Duals at Coe College

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The UW-La Crosse mens tennis team split a pair of dual matches Saturday afternoon at the Clark Racquet Center in Cedar Rapids. The Eagles fell 9-0 to Coe College (Iowa) before coming back to earn a 6-3 victory over St. Ambrose College (Iowa). UW-L is now 2-3 on the season.
In the win over St. Ambrose, Nathan Fekete (No. 3), Steven Quiring (No. 4), Doug Marmar (No. 5) and Paul Vickers (No. 6) all won in singles play for UW-L.
Fekete defeated Michael Medchill at No. 3 (6-1, 6-2) while Quiring beat Ryan Vretis at No. 4 (6-2, 6-1). At No. 5 singles, Marmar earned the victory over Chris Cassens (6-2, 6-2) while Vickers defeated Nicolas Goodknight at No. 6 (7-5, 6-0).
UW-L took two of three doubles matches against St. Ambrose. Fekete/Quiring defeated Medchill/Vretis at No. 2 (8-3) while Sam Talarczyk/John Hildebrandt beat Cassens/Goodknight at No. 3 (8-2).
UW-L returns to action Friday, Feb. 20 at Lawrence University (Wis.) at 6 p.m.
