UW-L Second After First Day of WIAC Championships

Oshkosh, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse men's swimming & diving team is in second-place after the first day of action at the WIAC Championships Thursday night in Albee Hall at UW-Oshkosh. The Eagles have 223 team points while UW-Stevens Point is first with 256.

UW-Eau Claire is third (216) followed by UW-Whitewater (127), UW-Oshkosh (88) and UW-River Falls (53).

In Thursday's action, Anthony Schmidt captured the 200 I.M. (1:56.12) for UW-L while the Eagles' 200 freestyle relay of Matthew Diehl, Christopher Boyle, Micah Fulmer and Tony Wolff also finished first (1:24.55).

UW-L's 400 medley relay of Lance Scadden, Karl Richters, Michael Beilman and Wolff finished second (3:30.39).

Wolff was second in the 50 freestyle (21.41) while Diehl was third in the 200 I.M. (1:58.04). Beilman placed fifth in the 500 freestyle (4:48.46) and Tanner Classon was sixth in the 3-meter diving competition (334.60 points).
