Eagles Fall to Nationally Ranked Titans

La Crosse, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team fell 81-68 to 16th-ranked UW-Oshkosh Saturday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles drop to 7-9 overall and 2-5 in the WIAC while the Titans improve to 12-4 overall and 6-2 in the conference.
The game was tied 14-14 with 10:39 remaining in the first half before the Titans' Dane Seckar-Anderson gave UW-Oshkosh a 16-14 lead on a layup. The Titans would never trail again. UW-L cut the lead to 22-20 with 6:55 left, but UW-Oshkosh ended the half on a 14-7 run to lead 36-27.
UW-L could get no closer than nine points in the seocnd half, the last coming at 64-55 with 5:47 remaining.
Tony Mane led UW-L with a career-high 29 points, finishing 10-of-19 from the field, including one-of-three from three-point range. He was eight-of-12 at the free throw line and added four rebounds. Brandon Brown totaled 14 points for the Eagles, going five-of-eight from the field and four-of-four at the line.
UW-L shot 46.2% from the field, including 25.0% (three-of-12) from three-point range. The Eagles were 17-of-23 (73.9%) at the line.
D.J. Marsh led UW-Oshkosh with a season-high 30 points, going eight-of-14 from the field and 14-of-15 at the free throw line. He also had seven rebounds. Jordan Johnson recorded a double-double for the Titans with 15 points and 13 rebounds while playing all 40 minutes. He was seven-of-seven at the line and also finished with four assists. Greg Schrimpf finished with 14 points for UW-Oshkosh while Matt Miller totaled 10.
The Titans shot 43.6% from the field, including 50.0% (six-of-12) from three-point range. The team was 27-of-29 (93.1%) at the free throw line and ourebounded UW-L, 38-24.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, January 23 hosting UW-River Falls at 7 p.m.
