UW-L Finishes Regular Season with Loss at UW-Stevens Point

Stevens Point, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse men's basketball team finished its regular season with a 89-62 loss at fifth-ranked UW-Stevens Point Wednesday night in Quandt Fieldhouse. The Eagles fall to 11-14 overall and 6-10 in the WIAC while the Pointers improve to 20-4 overall and 11-3 in the conference.
The Pointers have now won 14 straight games over the Eagles and 21 of the last 22 overall.
UW-Stevens Point led 21-16 with 9:27 remaining in the first half when it went on a 8-0 run to lead 29-16. The Eagles later cut the lead to 31-23 with 5:44 left, but the Pointers ended the half on a 12-2 run to lead 43-25.
UW-L could get no closer than 19 points in the second half as UW-Stevens Point led by as many as 27.
Austin Scott led UW-L with a career-high 22 points, finishing five-of-nine from three-point range. Andrew Haass added 10 points for the Eagles.
UW-L shot 44.2% from the field, including 31.6% (six-of-19) from three-point range. The team was 10-of-13 (76.9%) at the free throw line.
Pete Rortvedt led four UW-Stevens Point players in double figures with 20 points, hitting five-of-seven of three-point attempts. Louis Hurd added 16 points for the Pointers while Bryan Beamish had 12 and Ross Rortvedt 11.
UW-Stevens Point shot 57.4% from the field, including 47.6% (10-of-21) from three-point range. The Pointers were 17-of-25 (68.0%) at the line.
UW-L returns to action Monday, February 25 in the WIAC Tournament Quarterfinals at 7 p.m.
