UW-L Defeats Viterbo to Claim Coulee Cup

La Crosse, Wis. The UW-La Crosse volleyball team, ranked 19th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), earned a 3-0 (30-25, 30-20, 30-27) victory over city-rival Viterbo University Friday night in R.W. Beggs Senior Gymansium on the Viterbo campus. With the victory, UW-L claims the Coulee Cup sponsored by Wells Fargo for the second straight season.
Brianne Stankus led the Eagles with 14 kills, including seven in the third game. UW-L came back from an 8-1 deficit in game three. Katelyn Carlson added nine kills while Nina Walch and Amber Schoonover each had seven.
Samantha Dries led UW-L with 40 assists while adding eight digs and three blocks. Schoonover had a team-high nine digs while Walch also finished with three blocks.
UW-L hit .500 as a team for the match with 44 kills and 13 errors in 62 attempts.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, September 26 hosting UW-Oshkosh at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.
