UW-L Falls at UW-Superior in WIAC Match

Superior, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team, ranked 14th in the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), fell 3-2 (26-30, 35-33, 19-30, 31-29, 13-15) at UW-Superior Friday night. The Eagles are now 20-7 overall and 3-3 in the WIAC. The Yellowjackets improve to 18-12 overall and 2-5 in the conference.

It is UW-Superior's fourth career win against UW-L in 47 all-time matches. The Yellowjackets also snapped an 11-match losing streak to the Eagles.

Katelyn Carlson led UW-L with 20 kills while Brianne Stankus added 15, Nina Walch 11 and Amber Schoonover 10. Schoonover also had a team-high 23 digs. Samantha Dries (20), Emily Carroll (14), Walch (12) and Melannie Tate (12) all recorded double-digits digs for the Eagles.

Dries had 52 assists and two aces.

UW-L hit .180 as a team.

Courtney Stach led UW-Superior with 22 kills, 23 digs and seven blocks. Kelsey Lesny had 12 kills and 12 blocks while Alicia Fairchild finished with 67 assists.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, October 20 at UW-Eau Claire at 2 p.m.
