Stankus Leads UW-L in Win over UW-Stout

La Crosse, Wis. – Brianne Stankus recorded 24 kills, 16 digs and seven assists as the UW-La Crosse volleyball team earned a 3-2 (28-26, 23-25, 27-25, 18-25, 15-6) victory over UW-Stout Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 5-18 overall and 2-5 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) while the Blue Devils drop to 11-12 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Katie Gunderson added 12 kills and Melaney Vanden Langenberg had 11 for UW-L. Liz Schlobohm recorded 47 assists for the Eagles as they hit .161 as a team.

Melannie Tate led five players in double figures in digs with 18 while Jennifer Stutz recorded 17. Stankus finished with 16, Vanden Langenberg 15 and Schlobohm 14. Vanden Langenberg also had three aces.

Kate Mikutowski led UW-Stout with 14 kills while Steph Nichols finished with 13 and Hope Weilage 10. Kim Labat registered 45 assists as the Blue Devils hit .149 overall.

Alicia Mizer led the team with 24 digs while Mikutowski finished with 17, Tori Sandstrom had 13 and Taylor Fabian 10.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Oct. 17 hosting UW-River Falls at noon.
