UW-L Wins Third Straight Conference Match

La Crosse, Wis. The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse volleyball team won its third straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) match with a 3-1 (29-31, 32-30, 30-17, 30-28) win over UW-River Falls Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles improve to 18-4 overall and 3-2 in the WIAC while the Falcons fall to 5-17 overall and 1-4 in the league.
Kateyln Carlson led UW-L with 25 kills while Brianne Stankus added 20. Carlson hit .404 in the match (25 kills, four errors, 52 attempts) while Stankus hit .432 (20 kills, one error and 44 attempts). Nina Walch totaled 10 kills. The Eagles hit .284 as a team with 73 kills and 19 errors in 190 attempts.
Samantha Dries led UW-L with 52 assists while also adding 17 digs. Melannie Tate and Amber Schoonover tied for the team lead with 22 digs while Stankus added 20.
UW-L had 9.0 blocks in the match.
Kelsey Scheele led UW-River Falls with 19 kills and 17 digs while Amy Weber had a match-high 24 digs. Emily Hagen had 28 assists and Becky Ponick 18.
UW-L returns to action Friday, October 12 at the UW-Oshkosh Invitational.
