UW-L Wins Second Straight WIAC Indoor Title

Superior, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women’s track & field team captured its second straight WIAC Indoor Championship Saturday night at UW-Superior. The Eagles have won a league record 18 indoor titles overall, including eight of the last nine.
UW-L finished with 192.33 team points while UW-Eau Claire was second with 137.83 and UW-Oshkosh third with 115.5. UW-River Falls placed fourth (74.0) followed by UW-Stevens Point (51.0), UW-Platteville (46.5), UW-Whitewater (37.5), UW-Stout (35.33) and UW-Superior (12.0).
Caitlin Schetter and AnnMarie Glejf earned individual WIAC titles Saturday as Schetter took the first in the triple jump (11.34 meters) and Glejf won the pentathlon (3,241 points). Schetter set a facility record with her winning mark and was named the WIAC Field Performer of the Meet.
UW-L also won the 4x200-meter relay (1:44.27) Saturday, setting a field house record.
Sara Duchow recorded a pair of third-place finishes on the track Saturday for the Eagles, including in the 55 (7.37) and 200 (25.92) meter dashes. Schetter was also sixth in the 55-meter dash (7.43) while teammate Cassie Grosse placed seventh (7.46). Katie Steingraeber was sixth in the 200-meter dash (26.23) for UW-L.
The Eagles recorded four of the top-seven finishers in the 400-meter dash as Caitlin Perra was second (58.90), Danica Schaefer third (59.45), Abby Lien sixth (59.82) and Ashley Pershing seventh (1:00.20).
In other results on the track, Maggie Leyendecker was fifth in the 800-meter run (2:20.14) while Meghan Dugan placed sixth (5:11.45) and Megan Johnson seventh (5:14.25) in the mile run. Michelle Horn finished eighth (10:39.50) and Alison Kolinski 10th (10:46.69) in the 3,000-meter run while Maggie May was third (8.69), Alecia Ellingstad fifth (8.77) and Jamie Scott seventh (8.85) in the 55-meter hurdles.
UW-L’s 4x400-meter relay placed second (3:59.84).
Along with Schetter finishing first in the triple jump, Glejf was fifth (11.00 meters), Katie Fondow sixth (10.97) and May ninth (10.78).
Lauren Terry placed fourth (2.796 points) and Leeanne Nowicki sixth (2,740) in the pentathlon while Tina Schmidt was sixth (15.80 meters) and Christy Bohl ninth (14.81) in the weight throw.
