UW-L Wraps Up Home Schedule with Win over UW-Oshkosh

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's tennis team wrapped up its 2009 fall home schedule with a 9-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh Saturday afternoon in Mitchell Hall. The match was moved indoors due to cold weather.

The Eagles improve to 8-2 overall and 3-1 in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference while the Titans fall to 4-4 overall and 1-4 in the conference.

UW-L swept all six singles matches Saturday as Kelly Kuether defeated Liz Leffler at No. 1 (6-0, 6-1), Katie McDonald beat Emily Bostwick at No. 2 (6-0, 6-7, 10-7) and Carlie Bohrman defeated Eva Counsell at No. 3 (6-2, 6-1).

At No. 4 singles, the Eagles' Mara Weiner beat Whitney Tornow (6-3, 6-3) while Jenny Maruyama defeated Jenny Pietkauskis at No. 5 (6-2, 7-5) and Sarah Schoenwaelder beat Erica Troia at No. 6 (6-1, 6-0).

In doubles competion, Kuether/Stadum defeated Leffler/Bostwick at No. 1 (8-6) while Bohrman/Schoenwaelder beat Tornow/Brittany Braasch at No. 2 (8-5) and Megan Fallon/Andrea Vivian defeated Pietkauskis/Troia at No. 3 (8-4).

UW-L returns to action Friday, Oct. 16 at UW-Eau Claire at 3 p.m.
