UW-L Defeats UW-Oshkosh in Home Opener

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women’s tennis team improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in the WIAC with a 6-3 victory over UW-Oshkosh in the Eagles' home opener Friday afternoon at Veterans' Courts. The Titans fall to 3-2 overall and 0-2 in the conference with the loss.

The Eagles and Titans split the six singles matches with UW-L winning the first three and UW-Oshkosh the last three.

Debbie Braun defeated Rachel Minearth at No. 1 singles (6-0, 6-0) while Carlie Bohrman earned the victory over Jenna Abbott at No. 2 (6-1, 6-3) and Katie McDonald beat Melissa Fosdick at No. 3 (6-1, 6-0).

UW-Oshkosh won the next three singles matches. Brittany Braasch beat Sarah Schoenwaelder at No. 4 (6-4, 6-7, 10-7); Whitney Tornow defeated Kristen Holle at No. 5 (7-6, 7-6) and Alison Broerman beat Anna Schmidt at No. 6 (3-6, 6-3, 10-8).

UW-L swept all three doubles matches Friday to earn the dual victory. Bohrman/Schoenwaelder defeated Abbott/Tornow at No. 1 (8-5); McDonald/Braun defeated Alison and Kate Boroerman at No. 2 (9-7) and Brit Wagner/Kelly McDonell earned the win at No. 3 (8-3).

UW-L returns to action Thursday, October 4 at UW-Stout beginning at 3:30 p.m.
