Hall Scores Twice as UW-L Earns Win over Grinnell

La Crosse, Wis. - Chelsea Hall scored the first two goals of the match as the UW-La Crosse soccer team earned a 5-1 victory over Grinnell College (Iowa) Wednesday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles, playing in their final regular-season home match of the year, improve to 4-10-1 with the win while the Pioneers fall to 6-9-1.

Hall scored at 9:24 with an assist from Lindsay Wilde to give UW-L a 1-0 lead. The two then connected again at 18:27 with Hall notching her fourth goal of the season with another assist from Wilde.

Frances Leslie scored her team-leading seventh goal of the year for Grinnell at 19:08 (unassisted) to cut the margin to 2-1. Wilde then gave UW-L a 3-1 halftime lead scoring her sixth goal of the season at 37:01 with assists from Jessica Liban and Carli Gustafson.

The Eagles added two goals in the second half for the final margin. Heidi Hager scored at 85:36 with an assist from Sagan Pizzingrilli while Gustafson scored unassisted at 88:20. Hager and Gustafson have both scored two goals this season.

UW-L outshot Grinnell, 42-4, including 22-2 on shots on goal. Pizzingrilli made one save for the Eagles while Laura McElroy had 14 for the Pioneers. Grinnell also had three team saves.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Oct. 24 at the University of Chicago (Ill.) at noon.
