UW-L and Augsburg Finish in Double Overtime Tie

La Crosse, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse soccer team tallied a second half goal to force a 1-1 double overtime tie with Augsburg College (Minn.) Sunday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex. The Eagles are now 1-0-1 on the season while the Auggies are 1-0-2.

Heidi Hager scored her first goal of the season at 67:53 for UW-L to tie the match. Laura Jacobson and Lindsay Wilde recorded assists.

Augsburg took a 1-0 lead at 27:00 with Lacey Hoover's third goal of the season. Laurie Barger had an assist.

UW-L outshot Augsburg, 33-13, overall, including 9-4 in the two overtime sessions. The Eagles had 16 shots on goal compared to the Auggies' eight. Augsburg's Diana Bocklund recorded 15 saves in goal while UW-L's Sagan Pizzingrilli made six. The Eagles also had one team save.

UW-L returns to action Saturday, Sept. 12 opening Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) play against UW-Oshkosh. Start time is 3 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex.
