UW-L Wins Triangular; Sommer Takes All-Around

La Crosse, Wis. – The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse gymnastics team captured its own triangular Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles finished with a team score of 183.975 while UW-Eau Claire was second with a score of 176.325 and Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) placed third at 174.825.
UW-L's Erin Sommer captured the all-around (35.775) while finishing tied for third on the floor exercise (9.275) and fourth on the vault (9.400).
The Eagles' Jackie LaFleur was second in the all-around (35.550), fourth on the uneven parallel bars (9.225) and tied for fourth on the vault (9.400).
Gabi Hooper took two individual titles Friday night for UW-L, winning the vault (9.525) and floor exercise (9.550). She also placed second on the balance beam (9.475).
UW-L also took first on the other two events as Kasey Clausen won the uneven bars (9.450) and Mackenzie Howard finished first on the balance beam (9.500). Howard was also second on the floor (9.400).
Kelsey Matula was third on the beam (9.225) while Christina Manelli tied for third on the floor (9.275).
UW-L returns to action Saturday, March 8 at the WIAC Championships/NCGA West Regional in St. Paul, Minnesota at 2 p.m.
