UW-L Wins Blugold Open; Howe Sixth Overall

Colfax, Wis. – The UW-La Crosse women’s cross country team captured the 17-team UW-Eau Claire Blugold Open Friday afternoon at Whitetail Golf Course. The Eagles finished with 57.0 team points while the University of St. Thomas (Minn.) was second with 77.0. Wartburg College (Iowa) placed third (88.0) followed by Luther College (Iowa) fourth (93.0) and Carleton College (Minn.) fifth (118.0).

Kristen Howe led the Eagles as she finished seventh overall with a time of 24:06.08 on the 6,000-meter course. UW-L had two other finishers in the top-10 as Meghan Dugan placed eighth (24:07.86) and Katelynn Williams 10th (24:12.20). Megan Johnson placed 13th for UW-L (24:21.34).

Other top finishers for UW-L included Erin Farley placing 27th (24:48.13), Whitney Nefstead 31st (24:56.60), Lauren Moss 32nd (24:57.97) and Jenna Gerten 33rd (25:00.03). The Eagles' Alison Kolinski finished 37th (25:05.82), Kristina Bennwitz 40th (25:09.12), Emily Watson 42nd (25:10.58) and Mary Olson 48th (25:21.18).
