UW-L Drops Non-Conference Game with Lake Forest

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse women's basketball team fell 75-61 to Lake Forest College (Ill.) Sunday afternoon in the Holiday Inn Express Thanksgiving Classic in Mitchell Hall. The Eagles drop to 2-3 on the season while the Foresters improve to 5-0.

It was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.

Lake Forest led 20-12 with 10:18 left in the first half before UW-L came back to take a 32-31 halftime lead. The game was tied five times in the first half.

The Eagles led 43-36 with 16:06 remaining when the Foresters went on an 18-3 run to lead 54-46 with 9:37 left and UW-L could get no closer than five points the rest of the game. Lake Forest led by as many as 18 points in the second half.

Mandy Stevens matched her career-high with 14 points for UW-L, hitting six-of-13 field goals and two-of-two free throws. She also had 14 points in the Eagles' 68-65 loss to Winona State Saturday. Mackenzie Hunter added 13 points Sunday against Lake Forest and Anna Halat finished with eight.

UW-L shot 37.3% from the field, including 33.3% (one-of-three) from three-point range. The Eagles were 16-of-18 (88.9%) at the free throw line.

Beth Lucas led three Lake Forest players in double figures with 14 points. Tracy Rainey finished with 12 points and a game-high seven rebounds while Claire Schmidt added 11 points off the bench. Lake Forest shot 50.0% from the field, including 53.8% (14-of-26) in the second half. The team was five-of-10 (50.0%) from three-point range in the contest and 20-of-28 (71.4%) at the line.

UW-L returns to action Friday, November 30 at the Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) Tournament. The Eagles face Bethel (Ind.) at 7:30 p.m.
