UW-L Wins Third Straight with Victory at UW-Superior

Superior, Wis. - The University of Wisconsin-La Crosse women's basketball team earned its third straight victory overall and first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) win of the season with a 80-46 victory at UW-Superior Saturday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in the WIAC while the Yellowjackets fall to 3-8 overall and 0-3 in the conference.
The Eagles never trailed in the game, racing out to a 15-2 lead with 14:25 remaining in the first half. UW-L led 36-24 at halftime.
UW-Superior could get no closer than 12 points in the second half with 18:26 left before UW-L went on a 14-4 run to lead 52-28. The Eagles led by as many as 37 points in the second half.
Mackenzie Hunter led UW-L with 19 points, going nine-of-11 from the field, including hitting her only three-point attempt. Dana Churchill recorded a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. She was seven-of-10 at the free throw line and added two steals. Melissa Lang scored 11 points off the bench for the Eagles, going five-of-five from the field and one-of-one at the line.
UW-L shot 48.3% from the field, including 27.3% (three-of-11) from three-point range. The Eagles went 21-of-27 (77.8%) at the line. UW-L outrebounded UW-Superior, 38-27.
Ashley Laidley led UW-Superior with 12 points. The Yellowjackets shot 23.3% from the field, including 30.8% (four-of-13) from three-point range. The team was 22-of-33 (66.7%) at the free throw line.
UW-L returns to action Wednesday, January 9 at second-ranked UW-Whitewater at 7 p.m.
