UW-L Records Shutout over Lawrence

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse wrestling team improved to 19-1 overall and 4-0 in the WIAC with a 51-0 victory over Lawrence University (Wis.) Friday night in Mitchell Hall. The Vikings fall to 1-5 overall and 0-3 in the conference.

UW-L, ranked second in NCAA Division III, recorded three wins by fall and three by forfeit.

Brandon Music received a forfeit at 125-pounds to make it 6-0 before Pat Parrillo won by technical fall (23-7, 6:31) over Chris Gallegos at 133 to give UW-L an 11-0 lead.

After Kevin Barber won by forfeit at 141 for the Eagles, Zeb Secrist lengthened UW-L's lead to 20-0 as he won by decision (4-1) over Lawrence's Tony Norton at 149-pounds. Jay Milz at 157 and Tim Palmer at 165 recorded back-to-back wins by fall to make it 32-0. Milz defeated Matt Meiselman (3:59) while Palmer beat Evan Neuens (2:21). Palmer, ranked first in the country, improved to 27-3 on the season and recorded his seventh win by fall. He is now 116-28 in his career, ranking sixth in wins.

Dan Schulte defeated Sam Laes by decision (6-3) at 174-pounds to give the Eagles a 35-0 lead.

UW-L's Brenden Faust won by forfeit at 184-pounds and Andy Moore won by major decision (14-5) over Jack Peters at 197 to make the score 45-0. Hakan Binek finished the dual with a win by fall (:29) over John Fitzpatrick at 285-pounds.

UW-L returns to action Sunday, January 27 hosting third-ranked Augsburg College (Minn.) at 2 p.m.
