UW-L Sweeps Duals

La Crosse, Wis. - The UW-La Crosse wrestling team improved to 8-0 with three dual victories Saturday in Mitchell Hall Fieldhouse in the UW-L 2x4 Tournament. The Eagles, ranked third in NCAA Division III, defeated St. John's University, Minn. (38-7), Cornell College, Iowa (31-13) and Loras College, Iowa (28-12).

Jordan Kolinski (133-pounds), Tim Palmer (165), Josh Chelf (174), Josh Zabel (184) and Hakan Binek (285) all went 3-0 for the Eagles. Kolinski, ranked fifth in the country, recorded two wins by major decision while Palmer had two of his three victories by fall.

Chelf earned two wins by fall and the other by major decision while Zabel had a win by major decision and another by technical fall. Binek earned one victory each by fall, technical fall and major decision.

Palmer and Chelf are both ranked first in NCAA Division III.

UW-L's Matt Mauseth (149), Jay Milz (157, 165), Tim Winker (197) and Andy Moore (197) each went 2-0 for UW-L Saturday. Mauseth had one win by major decision while Milz won each match by fall. Winker recorded a victory by technical fall. Kevin Barber (141) finished 1-2 with his win by major decision.

The Eagles' number two squad also went 3-0 Saturday afternoon. UW-L defeated Loras College, Iowa #2 (26-3), Winona State University, Minn. (35-6) and Cornell College, Iowa #2 (29-12).

Brandon Music (125), Zeb Secrist (133, 141, 157) and Mitch Brekke (174) all went 3-0. Music recorded one victory by major decision while Secrist had one fall and Brekke finished with one fall and one technical fal.

In other results, Jeff Erkel (165, 184) and Brenden Faust (184, 197) won both of their matches. Erkel recorded two victories by fall at 165-pounds and a major decision at 184. Faust finished 2-0 at 184 with one win by technical fall and 1-0 at 197 with a major decision. Zach Strickland (197) while Nate Willaert (157) finished 1-1 with his victory coming by major decision.

UW-L returns to action Friday, December 7 hosting Luther College (Iowa) at 7 p.m. in Mitchell Hall.
